Downunder drive day report - 997-2 GT3 RS

The Melbourne daily newspaper 'The Age' has just published a brief drive day review on the new GT3 RS. Not surprisingly, they love it.

I love this picture, especially for the 'RS 3.8' door sill logo script. Awesome!

Hello 8,800 rpm...

While surfing the 'net, I found this article late tonight. And I think it is going to cost me at least one night's sleep, maybe more. And I reckon I now have a new favourite GT3 colour!

Thanks to Porsche Excellence magazine for this outstanding article on two 997 GT3's. And don't forget to click on the photos for some excellent hi-res lens work.

Awesome EVO review of the 997 Mk II GT3RS v Ferrari Italia 458

Scouring the internet, you regularly come across 'fan boy' reviews of specific cars & models or stereotypically predictable negative reviews of various makes and versions.

Here is one web video review (in two parts) that would satisfy any Porsche-o-phile or tifosi.

Great credit to Chris Harris who I believe is one of the great motoring journalists, who can drive, speak / write well and is therefore able to share a considered and well balanced opinion of what he gets his derriere into. GT Purely Porsche's loss was EVO's gain.

Enjoy this.

A 10year old and the GT3 RS!

We love a heart warming children's tale here at 'the GT3 Resource' HQ.

And this video/story involving an RS we love even more!

GT3R Hybrid Podiums on Second Outing

The celebrated GT3R Hybrid has managed a podium on just it's second outing.

Check out the Porsche AG press release here.

Porsche Clubs at Bathurst 2010

Some local club motorsport news involving 'the Porsche GT3 Resource' team over Easter.

We all participated in a Porsche Regularity event at Mount Panorama, Bathurst, with Chris and I in our 996 Mk1 GT3s, and Linley in his track-prepped Boxster S.

For some more information on the event, I have a blog entry here, and more interesting are Chris' video/data feeds from his onboard Video V-Box. This one details his quick lap around this fantastic circuit.

Porsche sent out a couple of 'Museum' vehicles to participate in the event, one being a RHD GT1. Chris was very pleased to overtake it! Here is the evidence!

Porsche 911 GT3 R Hybrid finishes sixth in first outing

The new 997 GT3 Hybrid finishes 6th in it's first competition outing. Nice work, roll on Nurburgring in May.

Great collage

Not exactly news but I found this great collage of standard and RS GT3s on the web recently. Nice work!

GT3R Hybrid

Interesting news from Autoblog regarding the new 997 GT3R Hybrid. Williams Hybrid Power are now providing their KERS technology to Porsche AG. And four wheel drive to boot! Interesting stuff and well worth the read.

Not good...

I don't normally go for accident stuff and here is why. I do hope the driver and any passengers are OK.

Don't get me wrong, I love a good 9ff

There seems to be something a little wrong with the world when a respected German tuner takes a perfectly good track weapon, in this case a 997-2 GT3 RS and bolts TWO turbos on it. Isn't that now a GT2 not a GT3 or am I missing the point? Great execution and engineering I'm sure, but a flawed strategy I reckon. Anyhoo, click on the picture for more information.

Porsche 911 GT3 R debuts at Autosport International

I must admit, I just love the look of the racing / long distance competition Porsches that emanate from Weissach. Every year they just look wider, longer, more flared and just more mean! While previously announced in November, the latest GT3 R is set for it's first public showing at an upcoming race car show in Birmingham, UK.

Here is the latest and greatest so hop on over to autoblog to read more.
